Is plumbing the career for me?

The Plumbing Trade is one of the largest skilled labour forces in Construction.  Plumbers are trained to install, alter and repair the systems that keep our potable and waste water running, in residential, commercial and industrial buildings, along with many of the basic amenities we rely on day-to-day.

They read and interpret blueprints and project specification, select the type and size of pipe required for project and measure, shape and join pipes according to specifications. Once pipes are in place, plumbers test for leaks. After installation, they maintain pipes to prevent or repair leaks.

“Plumber” is a nationally designated trade under the inter-provincial Red Seal Program. Healthy individuals with good stamina, attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are best suited to the plumbing profession.
